Jennifer Jackson has always been a storyteller. She began her career in theater as a writer, director, and choreographer – for which she won an NAACP award –  before transitioning to the page with her first picture book, The Punkydoos Take the Stage. Now, she is thrilled to be sharing Our World Is a Family, a story that’s so close to her heart. The picture book, co-written with Miry Whitehill (founder of the nonprofit Miry’s List) and illustrated by Nomar Perez, won the Northern Lights Book Award for Non-Fiction Picture Book, was named on Bank Street Education’s Best Children’s Books of Year list, and was short-listed for the Children’s Book Council: Youth Book Prize for Social Justice. Jennifer also works as a therapist for adults and couples, and lives in Los Angeles with her husband, son, and their scruffy little dog named Alex.
